PUSD is looking at another $17-24 MILLION in cuts. This is in addition to the cuts made last year. Below is a link to the Ninth District PTA's website that includes a link to locate your state legislator. There are also 12 sample form letters that can be used to express your views to your state legislator.

When preparing the form letter, remember that elementary school music programs are VITAL to a healthy high school performing arts program. All high school music and guard students got their start in elementary school. SAVE ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSIC.

Calling All Mt Carmel Band, Color Guard and Orchestra Parents…..
Did you know that Mt Carmel is a test center for the SAT exams? And did you know that the Mt. Carmel Band Boosters administer the SAT exams as one of our very profitable fundraisers? MCBB receives an honorarium from the testing company and those parents who volunteer receive a stipend that is credited to their student’s account. The balance of the honorarium goes to the MCBB General Fund.
When you volunteer, not only are you adding a large amount of money to your student’s account but you’re helping to keep our music program running by providing the funds for instruction, equipment, instruments and travel expenses. In addition, having Mt. Carmel as a test center is valuable service and convenience for your own child when it comes time for him/her to take the SAT exams. Being able to take the exams at their home school is a great advantage to a student. Volunteers can earn between $35 and $52 for one morning’s worth of work! Every test day, we need a total of 35 volunteers to accommodate the 600 students who are registered to take the test. There are two jobs available—classroom test administrators and hall proctors.
Want to learn more about this opportunity to put boatloads of money into your student’s account? Come to the SAT exam orientation/training meeting so see just how easy it is to be part of the SAT Administration team.

2009-2010 Booster Membership
The students in all three branches of the Instrumental Music Program at Mt. Carmel work enormously hard and make a stellar name and reputation of excellence for this school. I am proud to be a member of the Mt. Carmel Music Boosters and support these fine students and their Directors. After just one year, I have seen a tremendous amount of growth in confidence and responsibility in my own student. I can tell you that the field shows are thrilling, the concerts are wonderful and wherever the band, orchestra and color guard travel they garner major accolades. I hope you will join me as a Mt.Carmel Music Booster and support this exceptional program; I am sure you will enjoy the camaraderie and spirit of this great family.
