There's no denying that we have some pretty amazing people in our band program, and at the heart of our group lays this year's senior class. These students stand out as incredible leaders, exceptional marchers and remarkable musicians: all invaluable assets to our program. But what is most important to me is that these seniors are amazing people and the best friends I could ever ask for. Accepting and compassionate, these students have supported us throughout the four years they've dedicated band. They keep us in line, motivated and above all, inspired. I can look around me at any time and see a senior whose dedication, character, and passion makes me want to be just like them.

I know that we have still many memorable times ahead of us, but the end of marching season was nevertheless poignant. Senior line was particularly painful for many of us this year, who ended an unforgettable season with unchecked tears and heartfelt embraces as we said goodbye to the friends we have looked up to for the past three years. I can't imagine band without that group of people to guide and mentor us, to be there to laugh and cry with us. What the class of 2009 has given to our program, and to each of us individually, is absolutely irreplaceable. 

So, thank you seniors! You are loved and admired by so many, and your years of commitment are appreciated. You are leaving behind an incredible legacy of excellence and passion that will not be forgotten by the ones that must step up and somehow, fill your shoes.
