What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger
So here we are at the beginning of a new marching season. Just like all the other times, we miss our seniors and we're teaching our newbies. There are a lot of new elements to this marching season as well though. Our drill is different than anything us returning members have ever marched, and guard and band attended band camp separately. Anyways, there are a lot of things that change every year, and it is always a lot easier to readapt than any of us think that it'll be. This year especially, the changes will pay off since we're going to FIESTA BOWL! With this new venture on everyone's mind, we're going to be pushed to work harder than we ever have and to work on one show longer than we ever have. Guard has a couple sayings. Jaycee always reminds us that we should be pushing the coaches; they shouldn't have to push us. If we all have the determination for this show to go as far as we want it to, this should be no problem for band and guard. Just to add to the list of changing aspects of our program, let us put Jaycee's words in play. Every time we go to rehearsal, let's leave the staff wondering what they should teach us next as opposed to hearing them ask us why we don't have what they taught last week down yet. This might be challenging at times, but that's what keeps us from getting bored. When times get tough at practice and our muscles start shaking, guard has another lovely saying. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Think about it. Running until you're out of breath might hurt...it might hurt really bad. But, you're not going to die and you'll have a stronger body because of it. I hope this can help us along our way this season too. That difficult piece of music, that six on saber, and that extra run-through will make us a stronger group of people. So guys, let's set our limits higher than we ever have, and then lets make it our goal to surpass those limits. If we lose sight of this goal when our bodies and minds are exhausted, just remember that if it doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger. Lets bring it MC!
