We Chose the Easy Way
Every day when fifth period marching PE rolls around, we drag ourselves up to the field. It's hot. It's humid. We're tired. We're thirsty. It's so easy to make excuses for less than 100% effort. There's always some reason why you're just not up to it today. But think about all the students on the field. Imagine what our show would look like if every person just made one mistake. Now multiply that number by two. Or three. Or four. Everyone's little lapses in focus add up really fast. Sure, it's just rehearsal. And it's early in the season. But in a month, when we step onto Westview's field, we'll be wondering where the time went. We just can't afford to waste any more rehearsals. Top bands rehearse like top bands. Take a minute to think about whether or not we're rehearsing at our full potential. Outstanding performances only follow outstanding rehearsals.
We chose the easy way, remember? So take care of yourself. Bring shoes, your dot book, water. Every time we do something, fix some detail that isn't quite perfect. Stop talking when you know you're not supposed to. Stay set until you're told to relax. Listen to directions. Be focused. Just like mistakes, small successes add up fast too! If we all take responsibility for ourselves, things will come together in a big way.
So tomorrow when you walk up to the field, you have two choices. You can fool around, not pay attention, make the same mistakes over and over. And we just won't get to where we want to be. Or you can rehearse well, be efficient, take care of what needs to get done. And we'll succeed together. Your choice.

Somethings never change...we faced the same choice way back in our day. Ironically, as you get older you face the same choice...at work...at home...wherever you happen to be. Make the right choice and some 20 something years later you can look back with pride and remember how awesome you truly were, and how the discipline you learned in your high school years has payed dividends way beyond the diploma you earn after four years.
Because I said so... (thoughts of a 40 something bando)

So true! It's always a choice! Go make the good one.

there so right, we all need to step it up and try our very best. im sick of everyone(including myself) thinking that we are good enough and we dont need to try. you know, we have only done one tourny that actually counted and we didnt do so well. so i think that in order to win, we all need to step it up and do this so that each and every one of us can feel that we've acomplished something great. so far, i havent felt that. we should really bring it together and work our butts off cuz i want my senior year to be great! I LOVE BAND!!!
